Cast, Crew & Volunteers

Hear ye! Hear ye!

SCT is always looking for new friends. Perhaps you’d like to share a bit of your talent with us? There are several theatre companies in the Mammoth Lakes and Bishop area, so what makes SCT different? Well, our goal is (and has always been) to make theatre fun and accessible to the community. We like to think of our work as being a “gift” to the growing cultural appetite of locals and visitors alike.

We’re not highbrow. We’re not flashy. We won’t be bringing you the Hollywood elite.

But we do have a few folks trained in theatre. A few seasoned locals whose faces you’ll recognize from their appearances in our hilarious, annual Murder Mystery dinner shows, our summer Shakespeare productions, or our winter dramas. Some of our folks have been involved with us ever since our first few years, as we stumbled like a toddler, testing out a new idea. We’re twelve years old now! Nearly a teenager. We’re feeling pretty confident about ourselves, ready to take on the big bad world of insisting that this town hears our voice and appreciates us for the cultural gifts we’ve given Mammoth!

We continue to love our first friends. But it’s about time to branch out. Meet some new people. Have some new faces join our ranks. Young and old, experienced or not. We’re looking for actors who love the spotlight. Backstage folks who like a little less attention (but who are no less talented!). Type-A personalities looking to direct, or perhaps producing is more your style? If you are interested in helping us out with any of the following volunteer opportunities, don’t hesitate to send us an email (thesierraclassictheatre@gmail.com)

* Actors & Actresses: come to auditions!

* Directors: let us know if you have a play you’ve always wanted to do.

* Ticket-takers/Ushers: no, we don’t have seating arrangements. But
while our actors are rushing around behind the curtain and the director
is scrambling with his/her last-minute finishing touches, we need folks
to be the friendly face of SCT, welcoming the audience and letting them
know how much they’re appreciated!

* Spread-The-Word folks: Have a Facebook account? Email? A phone?
A voice to let your friends know about our shows? We are looking to
build our network of promoters, and it’s as simple as sharing your
enthusiasm for our next show. Perhaps you can get your boss to allow
a poster to be placed in your break room. Or

* Marketing: Perhaps you’d like to learn about how we publicize a show,
and get into the nitty-gritty of filling those seats! Perhaps you’d
like to try your hand in graphic design? Poster or ad layout? For
our writers, we need folks to write copy, or edit our existing copy.

* Website/Social Networking: Perhaps you’d like to manage our Facebook
page, or keep our website updated? It’s pretty basic (as you can see),
so any little tweaks will be great!

* Newsletters/Emails: This is a project we’d love to get going … if
only we had the manpower!

* Costumes: we need folks to help keep track of costumes in use for
current shows, as well as folks to catalogue and organize our storage
units. Enjoy sewing? Or perhaps you have a sewing machine gathering
dust in a closet? Perhaps you’re interested in costume design for a
show and would like to assist the director?

* Lighting & Sound Crew: enjoy gadgets? Our systems aren’t complicated,
but they can’t run themselves! Even if you only have a few hours to
offer us each year, this low-commitment project is great for those who
prefer to help perfect the performance from behind-the-scenes.

* Makeup & Hair: Sure, the actors can do it themselves. But every now
and then we have younger kids, guys, or beauty-product-challenged gals
who aren’t able or don’t know how to put on their stage masks. Love to
wield a curling iron? Have a thing for hairspray? This is your place
to shine (or, make others shine!).
